Initial Evaluation

Your first visit for physical therapy will be an initial evaluation and will start with an interview to get a better understanding of the problems you are having and your goals.

After the interview an evaluation will take place to help determine the best treatment for you, and will include elements such as looking at your posture, analyzing how you move, and checking things such as available flexibility, strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, and mobility.

All of the information gathered is then used to determine a plan of care and the best treatment for you. Treatment usually includes some form of hands on care such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, mobilization with movement, and movement coordination training. Treatment also includes guided exercise to address areas of weakness, limited motion, etc.

Follow up visits

At follow up visits I will check in with you to find out how things are going, and to discuss any challenges you may have with exercises prescribed. Follow up sessions will be unique to each individual's needs and treatments will be guided by the plan of care with progressions and adjustments to treatment as needed to help you reach your goals.

The ultimate goal of physical therapy is to help you feel your best and move your best so you can enjoy day to day and sport related activities to their fullest by helping you get past limitations in function and performance.

Massage therapy will be available to patients who have had a physical therapy initial evaluation and it has been determined that soft tissue massage will be a beneficial treatment in helping them to reach their goals such as improved flexibility, range of motion, mobility, and pain which will ultimately assist them in engaging in their usual activities and sport with reduced limitation and improved performance. Massage therapy will focus on the region of the body evaluated in the physical therapy initial evaluation.
